The origins of Shape Your Shoe
My shoe story
I've always been interested in design which is both technical and aesthetic. This led me to study Architecture, but fairly quickly I moved into shoe design. Working in a factory I learned about pattern cutting, leather, injection molding and large scale manufacture. However, I became frustrated by the limited variety of lasts and soles, and by the lack of technical innovation in the local industry. I wanted to develop the skills to change this situation, so I returned to University to study Mechanical Engineering.
During that time I learned about 3D printing and photogrammetry, and saw that these two processes could combine to revolutionise the footwear industry. Four years of development and refinement have led to lasts which are elegant, accurate and durable enough for high quality shoemaking.

The next step is to develop the capacity to manufacture shoes in-house, then offer the full service from scan to bespoke shoe. If you are interested in this development, please get in touch.
